You can use coconut oil as a substitution for recipes that call for butter or margarine. Because coconut oil, like butter, becomes solid, you can use it as a spread too!
Have some dry hands, legs, or lips? Use a little bit of coconut oil on your skin. Absorbs quickly without feeling oily. Add some oil essences for more of a fragrance.
3. Massage oil
Lather on some oil and feel like you’re in the tropical of Hawaii. Try coconut oil as a massage oil instead.
4. Oil replacement
Don’t feel like using your vegetable oil for frying eggs? Try using coconut oil instead.
5. For smoothies
Want to change up your daily smoothie? Try adding coconut oil or milk instead. Plenty of nutrients and a dose of healthy fats.
Research on coconut oil has shown that the medium chain fatty acids metabolize differently and go directly to the liver from the digestive area. As it enters the digest area, it then turns into something called ketone bodies which has a therapeutic effect on brain disorders such as Alzheimer’s and epilepsy. Coconut oil also contains Lauric Acid which can kill off fungus, bacteria and viruses. This can potentially lead to preventing infections. Also a great boost in metabolism and energy, coconut oil is shown to increase energy by 5%. It has plenty of health benefits, like the chia seeds, it gives the same affect of being satiated. Loaded with saturated fats, it can improve the cholesterol levels and lower your risk of heart disease.
How can you start using coconut oil? It works well in baked items that require butter. Try pairing it with a leafy green like kale. Add it to a protein shake or simply fry an egg with it. Getting in one to two tablespoons a day can be beneficial to your health. Don’t pass off this oil just yet because of the bad rep it has received.
