Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Did you know that October is breast cancer awareness month? I wanted to post an article to promote the campaign for women to spread the knowledge and know that early detection is key. Adult women of all ages should perform a self-exam on their breast at least once a month. John Hopkins Medical center states that, “Forty percent of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump, so establishing a regular breast self-exam is very important.”

Check out the National Breast Cancer website on how to perform a self-exam:

We here at would like to encourage you, your mothers, sisters, friends, and coworkers to do the self-exam. If you or your loved ones happen to find a lump, don’t panic yet as most do turn out to be benign. You would then have to go to your doctor to get checked out.

Aside from the monthly self-exams, mammograms for women 40 and older are recommended at least every 1 or 2 years. If you’re younger then 40 but are at high risk for breast cancer, it is encouraged for you to get a mammogram. Just know that early detection is key in making sure everything is doing okay up there. So please spread the message and raise awareness for the women out there.

Thank you.
